To recognize the efforts of SHS teachers in improving student learning under their area of specialization, CBE held a graduation ceremony for the teachers who successfully completed industry immersion under the Turo-Turismo Program. Having rendered the required 120 hours and submitted a portfolio that included their instructional and training plans, CBE, with program partners, DepEd and TAF, conferred a Certificate of Completion to each deserving teacher. The Turo-Turismo Graduation Ceremony took place on December 9, 2017 at the Holiday Plaza Hotel, F. Ramos St., Cebu City. Aside from the teacher graduates themselves, the ceremony was attended by special guests from DepEd-Region VII led by esteemed Regional Director Dr. Juliet Jeruta. The school divisions covered under the program were represented by DepEd-Lapulapu City SDS Dr. Marilyn S. Andales, DepEd Cebu Province SHS Coordinator Dr. Isiaiah Wagas and DepEd Cebu City Division Focal on Partnership Ms. Marlene Padigos. The program featured an inspirational message by Dr. Jeruta and a sharing of industry experience by one of the teachers, Ms. Teresa Ybanez of Talamban National High School, who was immersed for housekeeping at Golden Prince Hotel and Suites. Since the graduation was held back to back with CBE’s Annual Christmas Fellowship, the Turo-Turismo graduates mingled with other CBE members for a night of fun and games. Quite a number of them also signed up for CBE membership and were welcomed into the fold via a formal induction. With the teachers’ graduation, Turo-Turismo has concluded the immersion part of the program and is now focusing on exploring and crafting policies with DepEd, TESDA and other stakeholders on enhancing the assessment system under TVL tracks and aligning competencies with industry-based requirements.
